Arsenal Join the Chase for Loic Remy

Just as Harry Redknapp had announced that Remy would be moving to Chelsea, rumors went around that Arsenal had activated his release clause as well.

David McIntyre (former BBC employee) confirmed the news on Twitter. With Giroud injured till the New Year, Arsene Wenger is looking to sign a striker. On the other hand, Chelsea are looking for a striker following the exits of Etoo, Ba and Torres.

With both clubs offering Champions League football, it will be interesting to see which London side the Frenchman will opt to join. However, at Arsenal, Remy will be almost guaranteed a starting role while at CFC he will have to play second fiddle as Costa is their main striker.

In other news good luck to the boys against Leicester today.

CL Draw: Arsenal gets BVB, Gala and Anderlecht

Yesterday the Champions league draw was made and Arsenal is in Group D together with Dortmund, Galatasaray and Anderlecht.

In all truth, the CL draw in not all fuss. It’s a nervy and a nail biting experience. Imagine being drawn alongside Dortmund/Juventus/PSG, Ajax and Roma/Monaco? You see why I bit off almost all my nails while those teams were mentioned!

Drawing with BVB is an all familiar story. This is the third time in recent times that Arsenal is in familiar territory with BVB. A polite reminder to BVB fans, ‘Arsenal never loses in Germany’.

Galatasaray is a tricky tie. Even though, Gala are not the force they used to be (plus Drogba is there no more) they are usually tough to beat at home. With due respect to Anderlecht, Arsenal has to get maximum points against them.

Good luck to Arsenal. This time we have to top the group. It makes things easier in the next stage.

Alexis Sanchez proves his worth

Yesterday night, Arsenal made a 17th successive qualification to the CL. It was a laborious win against a well-organized Besiktas side but the Wenger boys scrapped through.

In all truth, it was a nervy entertaining match especially after the sending off of Debuchy in the later stages of the match. More nerves were evident when the referee waved away two penalty claims from Besiktas.

Former arsenal defender Martin Keown described the match as a nerve wracking encounter. Speaking to BBC Radio he said, "As an Arsenal fan, my heart was in my mouth a few times. The Jack Wilshere penalty claim was 100% a penalty for Besiktas.’’

However, despite the pressure and nerves, one Alexis Sanchez scored a fine goal against the run of play towards the end of the first half.

Arsenal fear lengthy injury to Giroud

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud is set to see a specialist who will assess the extent of his injury. Giroud injured himself in the late stages of the Saturday game while attempting to block a clearance from Distin.

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that he will miss the return tie with Besiktas. It is also feared that he could miss up to three months.

With the injury to Giroud, Arsene Wenger will be forced to dig dip in the transfer market for a striker. As noted in the game against Everton, Arsenal needs an out and out striker. The ‘false number nine’ formation deployed in that game didn’t bear the expected results.

Hope Giroud’s injury is not serious. Fingers crossed

Giroud can fire Arsenal all the way

Arsenal Wenger has insisted he has belief in Giroud and that he can score 25 goals in a season. The Frenchman came late and inspired a late comeback against the Toffees on Saturday.

Arsenal Wenger has poured praises on the striker and believes he could lead Arsenal all the way. Speaking to the clubs website Wenger said, "He scored 16 (last season) and he's very convincing," "You never have to set any limitations for any player. For me, he's improving every year and don't rule it out that he scores 25."

Hi Gunners, do you believe Giroud can do the job?

Arsenal salvage a late draw in 7 minutes

As am writing this, it’s the 80th minute and we are losing 2-0. It’s the same old story again. I am irked at the performance of the team so far. Well I guess every fan who wants his team to win is always vexed and frustrated when they are losing.

Oooh wait a minute! Ramsey scores. I don’t celebrate. I think to myself ‘this is just another consolation goal’. On the 88th minute Ramsey has the ball and whips a rather not so good cross but Monreal picks up the pieces. Puts in a cross and bang, it’s the big Frenchman, 2-2.

Well I didn’t see that coming. Arsenal was very poor especially in the first half. I kept punching the air thinking to myself, ‘when will we ever learn?’ We conceded poor early goals.

In the end that was a decent point. Say it was undeserving but is that not what champions do?

King Poldo set for Arsenal exit

The German World Cup winner has been linked by a move away from Arsenal. In recent weeks he has been linked to Galatasaray, Besiktas and several other Bundesliga clubs.

According to Sport Bild, Wolfsburg is the latest club to enter the race and are hopeful of landing the 29 year old forward.

Podolski joined Gunners from FC Cologne in the summer of 2012. His performances have not been 'over the moon' but I still believe he has a role to play. Last season, his injury limited him to just 27 appearances.

Fellow Gooners, Should Arsenal let King Poldo leave?

Has Arsenal learnt from last season’s thumping by Everton?

This weekend, Arsenal will lock horns with the Mersey side football club, Everton. Few gunners would like to remember the result at Goodison Park way back in April. Just for the record, Arsenal lost 3-0 to Everton.

In that encounter, Everton pressed high on the pitch which forced the gunners to make suicidal errors at the back. Roberto Martinez side employed a physical counter attacking game that surely suffocated the Gunners.

So has Arsenal learnt since then? The Gunners will have to play a close game this time. Monreal who was badly exposed by Lukaku in the last game will need to improve his performance this time round. Upfront, the Gunners need to be sharp. They can’t afford to be wasteful as was the case in midweek CL qualifier.

Good luck to the Arsenal.

Where should Arsenal strengthen further?

I have watched Arsenal play recently and I still believe the squad is not complete. Wenger has done quality business so far but the team still looks short to compete with the likes of Mancity and Chelsea.

Against Besiktas Arsenal looked out of options upfront. With Sanogo injured (who is yet to score in any competitive match) and Giroud looking unfit and rusty, Arsenal has Joel Campbell as the remaining option. A player that Wenger is reluctant to unleash.

It will be depressing for Arsenal to face the same striking issues that affected their title challenge last season. In my opinion, I feel that Arsenal needs to sign a proven striker. In addition, it will be prudent for the manager to bring a more dynamic defensive midfielder. We cannot rely on injury prone Arteta and the ill-disciplined Flamini.

What your say Gooners?

Arsenal lucky to grab a draw in the CL qualifiers

Wenger had said this fixture would be tricky and true to his words, it proved to be one. Arsenal was lucky to escape with a draw in what was not a pretty performance from the Gunners. Besiktas had most of the clear cut chances.

Arsenal is still favorites to qualify but they need to regroup in the return fixture at Emirates. Our attacking line looked fatigued and jaded. Were it not for the excellent back four, things would have been different.

Though the Turkish side dominated, the Ox could have grabbed a late winner only for his fierce shot to hit the bar. Aaron Ramsey saw red for two second half bookings which means he won’t be available in the return fixture.

Good luck to the Gunners next week.

Champion League Qualifiers: Besiktas Vs Arsenal

Arsenal will attempt to continue with their excellent Champions League qualifying by playing Besiktas tomorrow.

Wenger will be keen to maintain the winning momentum of the Gunners when they face Besiktas tomorrow. Buoyed by the active transfer business, Arsenal will be hoping to get past Besiktas with minimum difficulty.

The Gunners hopes to make a successive 17th appearance in the Champions League. Wenger understands that playing in Europe can be tricky and complacency cannot be allowed.

Besiktas qualified for this round after beating Feyenoord a convincing 5-2. Former Chelsea striker, Ba scored a hat trick in the reverse fixture at Ataturk Olympic Stadium.

Jamies: Wilshere risks the AXE

According to Jamie Callagher and Jamie Redknapp, Jack Wilshere needs to hit top form in order to break into the starting eleven. In the game versus Palace, Wilshere played 69 minutes of the game before being replaced by Ox Chamberlain.

The competition for midfield spots is intense at Arsenal. With captaincy of Arteta, who is expected to start and with the return of Ozil, the battle to break into the Arsenal midfield is going to be interesting.

According to the Sky pundit, Wilshere got it all to make into the first eleven but has to up his game.

Ramsey saves the day for Arsenal

The Gunners had to wait for a stoppage time goal from Ramsey to get past the stubborn defense of Crystal Palace. It was a laborious win so to say that saw Arsenal win their opening fixture.

Palace scored the first goal through Brede Hangeland header. It was later equalized by Laurent Kolscieny in the 45th minute. For majority of the game, manager less Palace looked untroubled by the inauspicious start by Arsenal.

The gunners were not fluid in their game. This can be downplayed by absence of key first squad members unavailable due to lack of match fitness. But all in all what matters most is that 3 points are already in the bag.

Roll on to the next game.

How will Arsenal line up vs Palace?

The EPL will kick off tomorrow and Arsenal will be welcoming Crystal Palace at Emirates. Amid the transfer rumors each team is now assessing the fitness of the squad members. So then, how will Arsenal line up against Palace?

With a number of new faces in the squad and quite a number of players lacking match fitness, we expect slight changes on the starting lineup.

The good news is that Laurent Kolscieny will have recovered from a knock he picked from the game vs City. The German trio- world Cup winners- may be rested for lack of match fitness. So the projected lineup will be as follows: - Szczesny, Debuchy, Kolscieny, Chambers, Gibbs, Arteta, Ramsey, Wilshere, Cazorla, Alexis and Giroud.

Welcome EPL, we missed you. Good luck to the Gunners.

Ozil: I will be better next season

Ozil accepts criticism for his first season at Arsenal. The £42.5 record signing from Madrid last summer feels that he needs to improve in the coming season despite the world cup triumph for his country.

In the previous season, Ozil scored five goals and assisted nine more. However, Ozil has been criticized of his work rate and subdued confidence in front of goal.

Speaking to Sport Bild Ozil said, ‘’There is room for improvement in all departments. I need to have more shots at goal again, and also improve my headers. The World Cup title was a great success, but it has to go on now."

Everybody knows the quality that the German possesses. Personally, I believe we have not seen the best of Ozil yet. What do you say?

How do you rate Arsenal chances for the EPL title?

Well guys, football is back. Next weekend, the long awaited Premier League kicks off. How thirsty are we to see the boys donned in the elegant Arsenal jerseys?

Wenger and the boys are buoyant over the title challenge next season. Having won the FA cup last season, Arsenal will need to set new heights for the coming season. Of course winning the EPL is the epitome of each and every arsenal fan.

Wenger has assembled a quality squad that can genuinely challenge for the EPL title. With the additions of Ospina, Alexis, Chambers and Debuchy, the Gunners can give a go for the title challenge next season. If the medical team maintains an injury free squad, Arsenal will be a formidable force.

Arsenal ready but need to spend more

On Sunday, Arsenal started the season the way they ended it last season, with a trophy at Wembley. The Gunners produced such a blissful performance that left many fans bundled with joy.

What is clear to everyone is that Arsenal is stronger than last season. There have been quality additions to the squad. Of critical importance is that there have been no significant exits from the squad.

Arsenal has the attacking quality but there is need to add defensive steel to the squad. A midfielder and a center back are needed. Calum Chambers is an exciting young talent but a more experienced defender is needed to put pressure on Per and Kolscieny to perform. Likewise, a more dynamic and proactive defensive midfielder is needed in the squad.

Community Shield: Arsenal thrashes Manchester City at Wembley

Arsenal deservedly beat Mancity three nil at Wembley. The goals were scored by Cazorla, Ramsey and a stunning effort by Giroud.

Arsenal was the better team for long periods of the tie. Calum Chambers did particularly well as a center back. It clearly showed why Wenger paid a colossal sum of money for the England player.

Being a Community Shield tie, not much that can be read on it but Arsenal portrayed excellent attacking potential considering the number of players missing. Alexis and the Ox played 45 minutes apiece and showed vast dynamism in attack. As usual Ramsey was immense and Wilshere showed his energetic prowess in the midfield area.

And finally, what a goal by Giroud! Can’t wait for next weekend.

Arsenal will face Besiktas in the Champions League play- off

The Champions League draw was finally made yesterday. Arsenal was handed the Turkish side, Besiktas. Besiktas finished third in the Turkish Super League last season.

The Turkish side is managed by former West ham and Everton defender Slaven Bilic and has some prolific stars such as former Chelsea striker, Demba Ba.

Arsenal has never encountered Besiktas in any previous competitive fixture. Well, this is considered a fairly tricky tie but many Arsenal fans fancy their side going through.

The first leg will take place on either 19th or 20th of August with the second legs played a week later.

Vermaelen could leave

Speaking at a conference ahead of the community shield tie with Manchester City on Sunday, Wenger admitted that Vermaelen could leave. Wenger revealed the club has received various bids and Manchester United could be one of them.

The Belgian has been linked to United as Van Gaal wants to add experience to his defense force. Barcelona has also been linked to the Arsenal skipper.

Wenger refused to reveal the names of the clubs that have placed bids for the Belgian. "Have we received bids? Yes. I can't tell you who from but you will know very soon," Wenger said.

Hey, fellow Arsenal fans, do you want Vermaelen to stay? If he is sold, Will you be comfortable to see him in a United shirt? Share your thoughts.

Jack Wilshere needs to hit full gear

Arsene Wenger has challenged English midfielder, Jack Wilshere to fulfill his potential next season. Jack bust into the limelight as a teenager who showed great potential. Since then, his career has been bundled with injuries and disciplinary issues.

Last season, he missed two months of action with a broken foot. A season earlier, he had missed the whole season with an ankle injury.

Wilshere has been criticized for stalling in his career. Much was expected of him and many people feel he hasn’t progressed much since his teenage hood.

However, Wenger believes that Wilshere is fully set for the new season. Speaking to The Sun Wenger said, "This is a big season for Jack but he is in his best pre-season shape for three years".

Go! Go! Jack. Show them what you got next season.

Arsenal is set to compete

Alisher Usmanov, Arsenal’s second largest share holder believes that the Gunners are entering a trophy winning era.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Usmanov said, ‘"I think we begin a new era for Arsenal where we win trophies. That is most important for football. The club is well placed to succeed".

He pointed out the building of the Emirates Stadium as the major obstacle for the gunners competing for trophies. However, Usmanaov believes that the triumph of the FA cup was the beginning of a new era for the Gunners. He predicts a bright future for Arsenal.

Hey Gooners, do you share the same optimistic thoughts as Usmanov?

Sanchez should be ready to step up

He was signed for a big fee and much more is expected of him. This was evident in his appearances in the Emirates cup. Many fans turned up to witness the former Barcelona man play. There were huge cheers for every touch the Chilean made.

With Wenger unlikely to make any signing of another striker, Sanchez should be the man ready to step up if Arsenal is to challenge for the EPL.

Wenger believes that Alexis will mould into a player of high caliber such as Thierry Henry. It will be remembered that Wenger converted Henry from being a winger to a prolific striker.

All the best to our new man.

Arsenal loses out on Emirates cup

That was a contrasting performance by the Gunners provided how they performed against Benfica yesterday. It was an uncharacteristically dire performance from the Gunners. Blame it on fatigue but the performance by the team was uneventful and uninspiring.

Speaking after the game Wenger said, ‘’Congratulations to Monaco, they were sharper than us today and we deserved to lose the game’’.

Wenger will be concerned by the lack of physicality showed in the team. He will also spend sleepless nights over the defending of set pieces. Falcao was allowed a lot of space through which he converted a free header.

However, all was not bad for the gunners. The performance of the debutant, Debuchy was nothing short of encouraging. He produced notable challenges to relent the Monaco attack force.
